Gravity Co, European musical orbit
As my knowledge in Bulgarian is limited to a few surviving words (hi, a beer please), I started up the conversation in English.
The band appeared in 2001 and at that time created the soudtrack of a video game. Since then they have recorded 3 studio albums and have received prizes in Bulgaria (best pop album, best studio album…).
Gravity Co performs around the world through different festivals (Sziget, Exit, Belfast…) and only sing in English. The emotions they want to share with everyone are universal and English is the best language to reach the whole Europe.
European stage
Even though it is largely supported by the Bulgarian audience, the group feels put aside. As they propose an alternative rock, Europe offers them a wider musical world and a more receptive audience. In Bulgaria, the folk music of these 15 past years, thoroughly influenced by oriental sonorities, is far away from the music the band performs.
Gravity Co develops its network and its family around the project, thanks to European festivals.
They have the dream to see appearing a culture and musical style peculiar to Europe, like the American style for example, and would like to cooperate with different European artists, no matter what nationality they are, creation is the common denominator.
Their best audience is the Bulgarian one. The way they show and share their emotions is unique. The years of communism have deprived a nation to express itself. Today the enthusiasm of people warms the band’s hearts. You shouldn’t feel offended if an audience seems bored, it may just be shy !
Europe is a convinient stage for Gravity Co, promising and very friendly band, who yet regrets that it doesn’t really help Bulgaria feel better.
Europe in one single word for them : Gravity Co. They know on which side their bread is buttered !
